The STSD Volunteer Program honored Rose Jewell Jordan as the Volunteer of the Year for 2014-2015. Rose was recognized for initiating the YouthMentorvention program at Thomas Holtzman Jr. Elementary School during the 2009-2010 school year, and for nurturing the program through the subsequent years. YouthMentorvention mentors began by meeting weekly with fourth and fifth grade girls, and these mentoring groups have continued to meet as the participants moved on to STMS and STHS.

The mentors – who were honored as a group for their caring and dedication – include Rose Jewell Jordan, Cheryl Weathers, Ellen Carnahan, Lee Spitalny, Preshus Goshay, and Stavroula Giannaris.
