The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment – standardized testing established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and designed to measure student achievement in 500 school districts statewide – will occur in Susquehanna Twp. School District in April. Students, grades 3-8, will participate in PSSAs for mathematics and English/Language Arts (ELA). Students, grades 4 and 8, will take the science assessment.
Teachers are helping students prepare for testing. ELA, mathematics, and science teachers are using sample questions as well as PSSA Item Samplers to give students a better understanding of what to expect. Item Samplers can be found in the menu on the left.
What can you as a parent/guardian do to especially help your child for the PSSAs? Attendance during these dates is critical; avoid scheduling out-of-school appointments and trips during these dates. Make sure your child has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast to lessen anxiety and prepare for success. Encourage your child to take this testing seriously. Teachers will not assign homework any night prior to testing.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher, guidance counselor or building principal. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
